LUBA MASON
A native New Yorker and first generation American of Slovak descent, Luba was accepted to Circle in the Square Theatre School and New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Her B’way credits include : Tommy Tune’s Tony Award-winning “THE WILL ROGER’S FOLLIES” , Trevor Nunn’s, “SUNSET BLVD,” Des McAnuff ‘s first Broadway revival of “HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS…” as Hedy LaRue opposite Matthew Broderick, Paul Simon’s “THE CAPEMAN”, opposite the legendary comedian Sid Caesar in “SID CAESAR & CO” which preceded Luba’s return to center stage as she starred in the Broadway production of “JEKYLL & HYDE” and then, as Velma Kelly opposite Brooke Shield’s Roxy Hart in the smash musical “CHICAGO”. Most recently, Luba received the 2015 & 2019 Lucille Lortel and Drama Desk nominations for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical for PRETTY FILTHY and GIRL FROM THE NORTH COUNTRY, the latter show premiering on Broadway in March 2020.
Luba’s guest-starring parts on TV include :PERSON OF INTEREST, LAW & ORDER, NYPD BLUE, NEW YORK UNDERCOVER, and opposite Jeff Goldblum in the psychic detective series, RAINES.
As a recording artist, Luba has released three critically – acclaimed albums : COLLAGE (PS Classics), KRAZY LOVE ( Sunnyside Records), debuting her impressive song writing skills and MIXTURA (Kobalt Music). Her 4th solo album, TRIANGLE (Blue Canoe Records), will be released in Sept. 2020 featuring a line never been recorded in the jazz world before – which includes Voice, Vibraphone and Bass. Having toured US and abroad, Luba has been a featured performer at the PANAMA JAZZ FESTIVAL and both COSTA RICA’S and HAVANA CUBA’S INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVALS as well as in the US at sold out shows in NY – JALC with her husband Ruben Blades and Wynton Marsalis and his orchestra, BLUE NOTE, BIRDLAND, IRIDIUM, BB KINGS, FEINSTEIN’S, Boston -REGATTA BAR, LA – CATALINA BAR AND GRILL, CINEGRILL, SF -YOSHI’S and numerous other venues. www.LUBAMASON.COM
